Educational Outings & Group Tours
Old Mission Peninsula with a stop at Mission Point Lighthouse makes a wonderful trip for a tour bus or large group looking for something to do in Traverse City. If you have a group of 15 + (best to schedule on a Tuesday or Wednesday), please contact us with your arrival date and time so that we can be properly staffed with volunteers.
Mission Point Lighthouse also offers wonderful learning opportunities for school children and scouts. Half-day or full-day programs are available upon request:

- Historical tours of the lighthouse and the Hessler Log Cabin
(group cost for child age 6-12 is $1 each) - Self-guided hikes through the wooded trails
- Beach hike and rock collection and identification
- We are working on compass activities and several other options, as well (if you have a specific interest, let us know!)
Adult Group Tours
We love having tour groups visit Mission Point but please let us know ahead of time so that the visit details are clear. The group rate for the self-guided tour inside is $5 each and we prefer that you prepay by credit card when you arrive. ONLY about 6-8 people can enter the lighthouse at a time. It is a small space and group visitors need to allow time to tour. The lighthouse is exclusive to scheduled tour groups when they arrive, so other visitors' must respect these tour reservations. We have volunteers to provide a the tour group a brief history talk outside prior to entering the lighthouse. This service needs to be scheduled with the Lighthouse Manager prior to arrival day. All tour buses must park on M-37 - no entry into the public parking lot.
